Stickered for Messenger

Stickered for Messenger 1.0

Yet another Facebook app

Given the furor surrounding the decision to make Messenger a standalone app, you would think Facebook would be wary about releasing any more. It seems not, as Stickered for Messenger is the company’s latest offering from its Creative Labs that follows Groups, Rooms, Slingshot, Paper etc. While the app was initially launched in mid-December for the holiday period, it looks like it’s here to stay for the moment. PROS

  • Very easy to use
  • Wide range of quirky stickers

CONS

  • Too niche
  • Has only one feature, which could be integrated into Messenger app

Not bad

Given the furor surrounding the decision to make Messenger a standalone app, you would think Facebook would be wary about releasing any more. It seems not, as Stickered for Messenger is the company’s latest offering from its Creative Labs that follows Groups, Rooms, Slingshot, Paper etc. While the app was initially launched in mid-December for the holiday period, it looks like it’s here to stay for the moment.

One feature

The concept of Stickered for Messenger is simple: take a new photo or use an existing one, then put a sticker on it and send it to your friends via Messenger.

You can add as many stickers as you like (a little messy on phones with smaller screens) then move (by dragging), rotate (by twisting) and resize (by pinching and zooming) them.

The stickers are the same kind of ones you can choose from when using Facebook chat (I’m a fan of the big smiley faces) and are organized into menus. Currently the stickers are free.

One click

Adding stickers couldn’t be simpler. Choose one, add it to your photo then send it via Messenger, download it to your phone or delete it. Or continue adding more and more stickers.

A flash in the pan

Having a separate app just to add stickers seems a bit superfluous, and Facebook’s decision to go down this route instead of integrating this feature into Messenger (and thus listening to its users) is difficult to understand. Convincing people to download an app just to add some stickers – even if it is really easy to use – seems like a stretch. I can’t see Stickered for Messenger being around for long.
